TET Celebration at Saint Patrick's
The congregation marks this annual festival with feasting, dancing, and song, and has invited St John's to join the celebration that follows the 11 a.m. service. Rev. Bryant notes that she learned recently that what she thought was a Dragon dancing and snapping up red envelopes of cash, is actually a Unicorn! The unicorn is one of four mythical creatures; the others are the dragon, phoenix, and turtle. These versions of unicorns, also known as Ky Lan, offer protection from bad spirits. The Unicorn has a lion head with a compact curled spiral horn, the body of a dog or horse, and often the scales of a dragon.
The day is sure to include happy people in beautiful clothes; yellow and red decorations; red envelopes with cash for children; traditional Vietnamese recipes for red sticky rice, chicken and pork, savory soups and more. You are welcome to bring something for the banquet table, and funds to feed that Unicorn!
Hope to see you at St Patrick's for worship at 11, or by noon for the festivities, St. Patrick's is located at 3241 Brush Drive, Falls Church, VA 22042.
