Two long-time St. John's parishioners passed away in April within days of each other: Lorraine Underwood, 70, who died on April 14, and B. Sherwood "Woody" Hedrick, 85, who died on April 22.

Holy Week at St. John's--Palms, Fish, Thorns, and Resurrectiion

Holy Week at St. John's began on Palm Sunday March 24 with the procession of the palms and the reading of the passion during Sunday services. On Thursday March 28 St. John's parishioners gathered at 6:30 pm in the meeting hall for a quiet Loaves and Fishes meal, followed by Holy Eucharist and the stripping of the altar. Easter included special activities--flowering of the cross, a special sermon, and an Easter egg hunt for the children and a special potluck fellowship for all following the 10 am service
St. John's Lenten Program Examines History of Racism in Virginia, Attracts Close to 70 Attendees

Close to 70 attendees from Episcopal churches throughout Arlington attended a Lenten supper and lecture at St. John's March 12 to hear the Rev. Benjamin Campbell speak on Virginia's history of racism and its still-present effects in today's society.
St. John's gets new Email addresses

Ann Barker We ask that you update your personal email contact list to add the new addresses and remove the old ones. We want to assure everyone that emails sent to the old address will still be delivered.
Ashes to Go at Ballston Metro Station

For those unable to make it to church, Rev. Ann Barker of St. John's was at the Ballston Metro Station on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 7:30 to 8:30 am and from 5:00 to 6:00 pm to impose ashes for those who want them and hand out Lenten devotional books. Other churches in the area provided a similar service at other metro stations.
