Region III Lenten Series Suppers and Presentation Tuesdays Beginning March 11

2/14/2014

This year, the theme of the Region III Lenten Series is Hope, Faith and Love in Harry Potter: A Lenten Series on the Power of Imagination with Patricia Lyons, Harvard University, M.A., Virginia Theological Seminary, D.Min. This five-week series will survey the Harry Potter books, alongside similar narratives by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, in order to find and understand how Christian dogmas and doctrines create much of the architecture of any epic story. The goal of this lecture series is to make the most of the meditative metabolism of Lent by discovering and integrating the inestimable role of the imagination more into our personal lives of faith. The program is targeted for teens and adults. You don’t have to have read the books to enjoy the series.

We will come together each Tuesday night at St. Mary’s at 6:30 for a light dinner (suggested donation is $5), followed by the program and Compline. Nursery care will be provided.

Dinners will consist of soup, bread and salad. The participating churches will take turns sponsoring the dinner by providing the salad and dressing, and setting up, serving, and cleaning up; St. John’s and St. Peter’s will host jointly on April 1.

St Mary's is at 2609 North Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia 22207  Get Directions and Parking information
