Worship and Worship Times

St. John's is not having in person services, education or gatherings at this time. We are having our Sunday services by Zoom and invite anyone to join us.

At St. John's, we gather in Christ's name to praise and thank God for all the blessings we have received from God's hands, especially God's love in Jesus Christ. We are strengthened and renewed by hearing the good news proclaimed and by receiving Holy Communion. We leave worship to love and serve the Lord in the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

8 am:  Holy Eucharist using Rite I, preserves the more traditional “Elizabethan” English. This service is spoken.

10 am:  Holy Eucharist, Rite II, uses contemporary wording. Hymns and service music are led by our choir and organist, who provide music that ranges from Bach to spirituals. In the summer, when the choir takes a break, parishioners have the opportunity to showcase their own musical talents during the service.

Child care is provided for those who wish to use it from 10 am on Sunday

Children and Youth Christian Education is offered each Sunday September through mid-June during the first part of the service. They return to church just before “The Peace”. Children are also welcome to stay through the entire service with their parents.

Fellowship The 10 am service is followed by a coffee hour in the Parish Hall. This is a time of fellowship and welcome for visitors and newcomers to the church, with coffee, juice, and light refreshments.

1 pm:  La Iglesia de Cristo Rey offers a Holy Eucharist service in Spanish, with the Reverend Catherine Campbell, 703-931-2245.
